It begins with an idea.
David Kohner Zuckerman is the writer and director of Parallel Process. A Los Angeles–based filmmaker and licensed psychotherapist, David has dedicated his career to exploring the human condition through both art and clinical practice. His work bridges two worlds – the psychological and the creative – allowing him to craft stories that examine how truth, guilt, and love survive amid trauma and moral conflict.
David’s film and TV credits include “Chump Change,” “All I Want for Christmas,” “The Fourth Noble Truth,” “Caught in the Act,” “A Perfect Christmas,” and “Strictly Sexual,” which was the number one feature film on Hulu for eight years. He’s also the founder of VirtualPitchFest.com (VPF), a pioneering online platform that connects screenwriters with Hollywood producers, executives, and representatives. VPF has helped thousands of writers find their voices and tell their stories, uniting David’s passion for effective communication with transformation.
With Parallel Process, David brings his insight as both storyteller and therapist to the stage for the first time. The play explores the long shadow of war – and the ways in which memory, denial, and redemption intertwine in the pursuit of healing. Inspired by the moral injuries carried by generations of veterans, Parallel Process stands as both a deeply personal artistic work and a reflection of David’s belief that confronting pain is the first step toward forgiveness, understanding, and grace.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, David is the son of Kathy Kohner Zuckerman, the original “Gidget” which inspired the multi-media franchise created by his grandfather Frederick Kohner. Other family members in entertainment include Pancho Kohner, Susan Kohner, Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz.
